If Lady Gaga truly did turn to Marilyn Monroe for style inspiration Sunday night, then the late iconic Hollywood actress definitely must have sent positive vibes her way. The six-time Grammy Award winner and pop star took home her first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel, beating out certified Tinseltown favorites like Kirsten Dunst, Sarah Hay, Felicity Huffman, and Queen Latifah.
In a way only Gaga could, the newly-minted silver screen star stepped on stage and appeared instantly out of breath. “I feel like Cher in that John Patrick Shanley film, Moonstruck, right now,” she told the audience. “This is one of the greatest moments of my life. I have to thank Ryan Murphy—you’re just a wonderful human being. You have believed in me so much and been such a good friend to me. Thank you to my wonderful cast. I love you guys so much. You’re my family forever.”
The 29-year-old beauty and soon-to-be wife to Taylor Kinney (who himself nabbed a People's Choice Award just last week) moved on to thank Horror Story castmates like Matt Bomer, Angela Bassett, Denis O’Hare, and Evan Peters, among others. “I wanted to be an actress before I wanted to be a singer, but music worked out first,” the New York born and raised talent revealed. “To my family, I love you so much. I have to thank my team. You guys pick me up every single day, and the things I put my body through and my mind through when I’m working, it makes me like a child. I can’t do things on my own. You allow that and you take care of me.”
