Headies Organisers release statement to address the drama that happened on awards night

Read the official statement from Headies Awards organization below…

We are proud of what we have achieved over the years. The Headies stage has birthed the careers of many artistes who are of A-list status today. We are also glad that we have reinstated pride and prestige into the winning of a locally organised music awards and, we have celebrated artistic ingenuity for 10 straight years; a feat no other group before us was able to achieve.
Every year, the screening team collate all creative materials released in the year in review and screen for nomination. This tedious process goes on for at least three months before the screening team comes out with a final list. The voting categories, such as ‘Song Of The Year’, ‘Artist Of The Year’, & ‘Next-Rated’ are left strictly for fans to vote and choose the winners. We wish to say categorically that we do not tamper with the outcome of the voting process. The limit of our involvement in this voting process is to advice the nominees to engage their fans and solicit for their votes. We do not accept any responsibility for failure on the part of the nominees or their record label, when they fail to do this.
Unfortunately, most times, Voting, Year In Review and Definitions Of Each Category, are generally taken for granted by many artists. We can also attest to, and hereby state categorically that, there is no evidence that any of the artistes aggrieved and vocal about their displeasure to the turnout of the award, voted in the ‘Next-Rated’ category, as our voting process captures email addresses and phone numbers.
We have ensured that the awards happened regardless of sponsorship, and that it gets better with each passing year, without giving excuses about challenges. We may not have gotten everything 100% right, but integrity has been our watch-word. The 109 Nigerian artistes that have won can attest to the fact that they did nothing different from those that have not. Awards by nature, are and will always remain, controversial except every nominee gets one.
We try to ensure that winners are within reach before announcing their category, as the whole essence of celebrating talents will be defeated without that.
While it is not out of place for an artiste or a party to vent their disapproval, we strongly condemn all kinds of improper conduct and the use of profanity on live television. In the same manner, we condemn provocative comments. In all, we see no use or reason for a disgruntled artiste or party to destroy valuable properties put in place to give them extra comfort before they perform or come on stage. This is totally unacceptable and will be addressed.

Nigerians Beware: Twitter Will Soon Start Closing Accounts

In an attempt to limit harassment of its users, Twitter is changing the rules for what you are allowed to tweet.
Twitter says that:

You cannot tweet “hateful conduct,” which means: “You may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or disease.”
Abusive behavior, once part of an “abuse and spam” section, has now been devoted the largest section of the rules. It states, “We do not tolerate behavior that crosses the line into abuse, including behavior that harasses, intimidates, or uses fear to silence another user’s voice.”
Twitter also will now attempt to assist people who have threatened suicide or self-harm on Twitter, including “reaching out to that person expressing our concern and the concern of other users on Twitter or providing resources such as contact information for our mental health partners.”
The definition of “violence” now “includ[es] threatening or promoting terrorism.”
The rules explicitly state that if they are not followed, accounts may be temporarily locked or permanently suspended.

Anne Hathaway Shows First Photo of Growing Bikin -Clad Baby Bump

Way to take charge of a situation, Anne Hathaway. The pregnant actress decided to take matters into her own hands while vacationing over the New Year's holiday with her husband, Adam Shulman. When she saw the paparazzi were getting snap happy as she enjoyed a fun day on the beach in her bikini, she wanted to make sure she was the one to be in charge of the photos. Hathaway took her own bikini baby bump picture and shared it on Instagram with her 1.8 million followers.
On the cute pic, which featured a lovely sunset in the background and Hathaway in her red bikini, she wrote, "Happy 2016 to my beautiful Instafriends! So, posting a bikini pic is a little out of character for me, but just now while I was at the beach I noticed I was being photographed. I figure if this kind of photo is going to be out in the world it should at least be an image that makes me happy (and be one that was taken with my consent. And with a filter :) Wishing you love, light and blessings for the year ahead!"

Don Jazzy, Olamide settle rift, apologise over Headies ‘wahala’

Mavin’s Boss, Don Jazzy and YBNL’s CEO, Olamide Adedeji, have settled their rift and issued a joint apology.
Recalled that Olamide blasted the organisers of the awards for not recognising his protege, Lil Kesh as the Next Rated Artiste. The category was won by Reekado Banks of Don Jazzy’s Mavins.
“Lil Kesh is our own Next Rated artist. F**k that sh*t!The streets ti take over.Every f**king single was a hit back to back. From lyrically, to Shoki to Efejoku. Ko ni dafun Iya anybody,” Olamide said when he climbed the stage with his whole YBNL team, during the presentation of  the award for Best Alternative act, won by his artist Adekunle Gold for the song, Shade.
After Olamide’s diatribe, Don Jazzy won Special Recognition Awards and while on stage to receive his award, he reacted to Olamide’s rant. He said “Egbon Olamide, if you want the car, come and take it.” (Next Rated win comes with a car).
Afterward, Olamide went nuts and came for Don Jazzy on Twitter. In a number of twitter rants, Olamide declared war on Don Jazzy and ripped him to pieces not only on his person but also on the way he treats artistes signed under him

Open Letter To Headies Organizer

 Dear Headies,

*Drinks Water, drops cup* should I still call you HEADIES? NO! After yesterday’s poor event, I will rather call you ASSDIES! So many wrong things at this year’s edition Naija grammy.
I remember how I celebrated my 10th birthday, WOW! It was lit! But for ASSDIES? I felt sorry for her and her past achievements with all that happened yesterday.
Firstly, let’s talk about SOUND! I think the organisers should have called SOUNDcity TV for a great help. The people in charge of sound yesterday should be charged to court this morning if they collected money for that whack work. 80% of viewers complained of holding their remote control throughout the show because of the bad sound system. I was so glued to my TV not because I couldn’t see clearly but because I couldn’t hear a bit of what the hosts/artistes said almost all through the show. C’mon! This is HIP TV! This is HEADIES! one of the best award shows in Nigeria and what pains me most is the fact that it was the 10th Anniversary and everything had to go like that. What a shame! Let’s work on this department next year please.
Secondly, Light issue at the beginning/middle and end of the show. Wait! We know we are Africans! We are blacks! But please don’t give us that on stage. I could bearly see the faces of those that came out to perform 1st and the ones that came to give some awards. If we plan to do somethings right, we need to plan well. It’s clear, headies didn’t plan well and it’s painful to see one of the biggest shows in Africa in that mess.
Thirdly, with no sugar in my mouth so I won’t sugar say anything, the production was generally BAD! Should we talk about the Timing too? The programs? It was just not cool for making some artistes and the hosts looked amateur because of lack of timing and programs. We watched more of advertisements than the show yesterday or were they part of the event too? I got confused and vexed at some point though. We also need to work on this! This is our grammy like they said and still say.
Fourthly, now it’s time to get serious. The issue of awards! What ever happened on stage yesterday was all confusing. It all started when the award for “Best Music Video” was given to Reekadobanks for his “Not too good video” ( KATAPOT) Unlimited deserved it and yes he won but if I didn’t know how good he is, I would never credit him for that award. Katapot? Like Katapot? Lol we really should “Katapot” the organisers for giving that video the best of the year. I have always had problem/s with Headies when it comes to awards and yesterday again, they didn’t correct that or made me change my mind. The most controversial time yesterday was when the award for “Next Rated” was also given to Mavin Artiste Reekadobanks. I need the organisers to come out with the voting poll/s and let us see how true the whole issue is and to keep the fans of each artiste shut. Would have loved to see Kesh or Kiss as the winner for that category but whatever went behind the scenes though. Reekky deserved it if they really used voting though and I’m happy for the young lad. KESH was consistent with dope songs ( Shoki, Efejoku, Is It Because I Love You) all through the year, got many shows to back his hard works. KISS also had a great year even though he didn’t release more than 3/4 songs that really did so well in Nigerian music industry. Korede bello also had a nice year with his hit song “Godwin” which collected “Best Pop Single”. Oh well, it’s been done and I congratulate Reekky for the award and to the other next rated nominees that didn’t win? Keep making music! Before I forget, I love “Sugar baby” nice jam!
Why must we always have beef? The industry is now an abattoir? We need to stop all these unnecessary beefs and come together as one! I believe we can only grow as a body if we are united and we don’t even need Van gaal to do that for us. To my egbons, Donjazzy and Olamide, please forget the beef and wait for ramadan because it’s a new year.
Finally, I salute Mr Ayo Animashaun for putting together that event and I must say it’s not an easy job to pull that work through. I just need us to work more on the issues that made the show looked bad. Also, to all the winners, I say a big congratulations and I wish you well this year.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Rihanna

Over the past couple of months, Rihana’s social media platforms have become a beacon of hope. (It seems the only people who know what’s happening are Samsung users.) For the rest of us, Bad Girl RiRi continues to tease out the release of her hotly anticipated album, Anti. We’ve already seen the cover art. Tickets for her world tour—which begins in February—are now on sale. All that’s left to drop is the album. (Which, according to multiple reports, may take a while.) In the meantime, here are five things that you likely didn’t know about Rihanna.

1. Like many who's have come before her, Rihanna does not actually go by her given name. The 27-year-old Barbadian beauty was born Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Her middle name is Arabic and means “sweet basil.” With her family and close friends, she still goes by Robyn. “I get kind of numb to hearing Rihanna, Rihanna, Rihanna,”she has told rolling stone. “When I hear Robyn, I pay attention.” (Also: According to Rihanna’s Instagram, we may have been mispronouncing her stage name. Turns out, it’s Ri-Anna.)
2. Before making her on-screen debut as a Navy weapons expert in Peter Berg’s Battleship, Rihanna had a bit of real-life experience to help prepare her for the role. The “Umbrella” singer was an army cadet in a sub-military program in her native Barbados. Singer-songwriter Shontelle was even her drill sergeant and ordered Rihanna around. “That’s what drill sergeants do. We boss cadets around, we make them do push-ups . . . especially when they show up on the parade square late,” Shontelle told BBC in 2009. “We were both in cadets together—it wasn’t compulsory or anything. But picture me and Rihanna in combat boots and fatigues crawling through mud and things like that.”

 3. At 15, Rihanna won her high school beauty pageant and was named Miss Combermere after performing Mariah Carey’s “Hero.” “I kind of laughed at these stupid pageants,”Rihanna told the Daily Mail in 2007. “But my friends at school dared me to do it, and my military training came in hand
4. Rihanna has a few unorthodox preshow rituals. Things start off normal: “I eat lozenges, steam my voice, do my makeup. I Skype my vocal coach, and we sit there at the makeup table and do warm-ups for about a half hour,” she told Esquire in 2011. Then she starts to have some fun: “My personal assistant-slash-bartender brings me a shot that she dilutes with a little something so it’s not so harsh, like orange juice or soda water and lime,” she said.“I have to have it. I take it very seriously, so there is a level of anxiety, always. I overthink everything when it comes to my job. The drink calms my nerves. I sip it while I watch the opening act from my dressing room. Sometimes I go out into the audience. I put on a really big hoodie and sneak out there.”
5. In 2007, Gillette insured Rihanna’s legs for $1 million. “They named me this year’s Celebrity Legs of a Goddess, so along with the title comes an insurance for your legs of a million dollars,”she has told the Guardian. “But I think I’m just normal. I think, ‘Do people really insure their legs for a million dollars?’ If it was my million dollars, I’d probably walk about in pants all day long.”

Best Ways to Start a New Year …

Start New Year feeling happy, fresh and ready to take on whatever life throws at you! Now, I’m sure that’s how we’d all want to start new year – Am I right? Well, I have a couple of suggestions for you today, a few ideas that could help you start new year feeling better than ever, so here we go:

1. Reorganize Your Working or Living Space

Start New Year fresh by implementing some changes into your living or working area and you’ll really manage to put yourself in that “new year- new challenges – new opportunities” mood! Move the furniture around, reorganize your home décor and get the apartment to the point where it looks so new and interesting that you get surprised every time you walk in. Your new environment will remind you that something has indeed changed and, although this change is nothing more but a new calendar page, you will really feel different and be more inspired to move forward and achieve the goals you’ve set for yourself in the New Year.
2. Pamper Yourself
A new year is a new start so in order for it to be fresh, you absolutely must pamper yourself a #little bit. Change your #hair color in case that’s something you’ve been wanting to do for a while, invest in that must-have piece you’ve been eyeballing the whole month or simply try out a few homemade facials. And don’t forget a long, soothing bubble bath and a low fat chocolate desert either!

3. Do Something Creative and Inspiring

Finding something inspiring and creative to do is one of the #best ways to start new year, not only because these activities are fun but also because they will make you happier, more relaxed and able to think outside the box like never before! Find a peaceful #beautiful place for meditation if you’re suffering from a lot of stress, read a new book or maybe an old classic if your profession requires quick thinking and creative responses or simply enjoy something you used to love but didn’t get to do for a long time.

4. Don’t Forget Your Resolution

A round of holiday cheer, a few days of rest and then it’s back to work! Now, I’m sure you have a lot of very nice goals set up for this New Year just as I’m sure that you won’t even remember them until next December. Well, it’s time to turn things around and start new year with your New Year Resolution plans already in progress! Think of it as a list of groceries you’ll need to buy, carry it in your wallet and do everything you can right now, while the decision to change things is still fresh in your mind. If your goal is to read more, stop to the library or bookstore and get yourself an impressive pile of books you won’t be able to resist, if your goal is to lose #weight stop by the gym and pay the membership 3 months in advance simply because you know that’s a substantial sum you won’t be able to forget or waste by not going.

5. Start a New Tradition

Traditions are the best part of every celebration and even celebrations themselves are basically traditions. So, why not start your own family tradition? Make a treasure chest, predictions chest or maybe even accomplishments chest to slowly fill up with #everything you’d want to remember next year. And when it’s time to celebrate the ending of this year, you’ll have another box to open and either laugh reading random predictions, smile while remembering the year’s highlights or feel proud when reminded of all of the things you’ve accomplished during the year.

6. Discover Yourself

I believe every person has dozens of different hidden talents that are just waiting for their #chance to come out and I’d really like to encourage you to start new year with exploring different parts of your wonderful personalities. Draw, sing, dance, write, even check out a few arts and crafts tutorials and try to make something interesting on your own. Surprise yourself!

7. Make a Vision Board

The so-called Visiton Board is a very popular way to start new year feeling motivated so if you still haven’t made your own board, I suggest you give it a shot. You can make a real-life board to pin all the inspiring images onto or opt for a virtual one to keep your in your goal-getting mood all year round.

8. Schedule Family Time

In today’s society it is very rare for families to get together on daily basis, which is why you should start off this year by reuniting with your family members! If it seems like you found out you have more family members that you knew about during this holiday season, this is more of a reason to get to know both sides of your family. You will be surprised how strengthening and joyful it can be when you actually talk and connect with family members other than your immediate family!

9. Quit a Bad Habit

You have probably been telling yourself that you will quit smoking or become more productive this whole year. However now it is time to take the next step and bring those #words to life! Start off the year fresh by leaving all of your bad habits behind and becoming a better version of you. Once you mentally overcome a hurdle and learn how to control your desires, you will feel like your capabilities are endless!

10. Say Yes More Often

If in the past you feel like you have missed many opportunities due to hesitation, make sure to set a goal of saying ‘Yes’ more often. While being cautious is one of the key elements for survival in the real #world, saying yes to opportunities and taking risks can open new doors! So change up your strategy and just say yes next time an opportunity comes up.

11. Increase Communication

While it is great to spend more time with family, it is also important not to neglect your friends. Therefore if you feel like you have lost touch with valuable friends over the years, it is never too late to get back into contact! In addition you can always expand your inner circle by making new connections and learning about new #people. New friendships are always beneficial! They can open up your #eyes to the world and change your perception on your environment.

12. Build on Your Experience

The new year calls for new experiences in your life! So instead of settling for your usual daily life, try to throw in some new experiences here and there. Every month plan something exciting and new that you haven’t done before. You might discover new things about yourself and expand your thinking. Don’t be afraid to take risks and do something out of character, after all we only live once!

13. Take a Step Back

Before you are well into the new year, I think it is important to take a step back and review what you have done in the year that just passed. Sometimes we are so focused on the minor details that we often forget about the bigger picture. So take this time to take a step back and #look at what you have done. Celebrate your accomplishments and mentally take notes on what you can improve. This self-evaluation will surely help you as you enter the new year!
Well, these are my ideas on how to start new year and now it’s #time for you ladies to share yours! Which inspiring activities will help you start new year feeling fresh, ready to keep the good #things going on and force the bad ones out of your life for good?

Thank you for reading, kindly share..

Seven Foods That Fight Inflammation and Belly Fat

Fruits and vegetables
All fruits and vegetables, due to their rich nutrient and fiber content, help to combat chronic inflammation, so make sure to include adequate amounts of these foods daily. Some types of fresh produce, however, are even more potent than others.
Some terrific anti-inflammatory fruits and vegetables to include in your meal plan include apples, berries, broccoli, mushrooms, papaya, pineapple, and spinach.

Green tea
This mild beverage is great for helping shrink your waistline as well as for decreasing inflammation. The flavonoids in this tea have natural anti-inflammatory properties. And the compound EGCG in green tea has been shown to help reduce body fat.

Monounsaturated fats
These heart-healthy fats help raise your healthy HDL cholesterol levels and reduce overall inflammation. Great sources include olive oil, almonds, and avocado.

Omega-3 fatty acids
Research has shown that a diet with a high percentage of omega-3 fatty acids and a low percentage of omega-6 fatty acids has been linked with decreased inflammation. Food sources of omega-3s include walnuts, flaxseed, and fish, such as wild Alaskan salmon.

Spices
Certain spices, including garlic, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and chili peppers, have potent inflammation-reducing capabilities, so try adding them to meals as often as possible

Water
Staying hydrated is essential to flushing inflammation-causing toxins out of your body. Aim for 64 ounces of water per day. Remember: Add an additional 8 ounces of water for every 30 minutes of exercise as well.

Whole grains
Rich in fiber, whole grains help control the insulin response in your body. The high B vitamin content of whole grains also helps reduce the inflammatory hormone homocystine in the body.
.
